Now down to sideline reporter Debbie Ryan

Ryan's asking, not answering, questions these days.
Thought we were dreaming.

When ESPN3's Dean Darling broke away to his sideline reporter at the end of the MAAC Tournament semifinal on ESPN3 between Marist and Niagara, we were barely paying attention.

But when the sideline reporter turned out to be former Virginia coach Debbie Ryan, live at the MassMutal Center in Springfield, Mass., our ears perked up.

"Tell me what you said to this team at halftime to turn this game around?" Ryan asked Marist coach Brian Giorgis, whose Red Foxes survived Niagara in overtime 68-54 to advance to Sunday's MAAC Tournament championship game. Ryan also had a question for Marist guard Corielle Yarde, asking how her teammates encouraged her to pick up her game.

How strange to see Ryan on the other side of the microphone for a change. We don't see Ryan scheduled to do any more games for ESPN3, but stay tuned. We know this much. It was great to see Debbie.
