No. 19 Florida State (18-5, 6-2 ACC) at Virginia (13-11, 2-6 ACC), 7 p.m.
The Cavaliers are coming off one of their best overall efforts of the season Thursday against Wake Forest. But can they sustain something close to that level against a top-tier ACC foe? It helps that this one's at home, as Virginia has played particularly well at the JPJ. The Seminoles prevailed 61-51 when these teams met last month in Tallahassee, a game in which the Cavaliers shot just 32.8 percent from the field. They'll need to move the ball around better this time (just seven assists in that game) and keep Florida State off the free-throw line. Virginia has already given up one quality effort against a big-time ACC team (Maryland). We think they're due for another. Virginia 65, Florida State 61
North Carolina Central (2-20) at Hampton (16-6), 6 p.m.
The Lady Eagles have dropped 12 straight games since a 50-48 win over (gulp) Liberty on Dec. 18. The outcome shouldn't be doubt here, but it will be interesting to see the Lady Pirates can get freshman scorer Nicole Hamilton untracked. Hampton 70, N.C. Central 40
Norfolk State (8-11, 1-8 MEAC) at Delaware State (6-15, 2-7 MEAC), 5:30 p.m.
We think this is the one, the Spartans' first MEAC road victory since January, 2007. We'd feel a little better about it if the Lady Hornets hadn't just scored 73 points - a season-high against a Division I opponent in regulation - in thumping North Carolina A&T. We don't think they can do that twice. But hey, Spartans, don't forget to guard DelState freshman Kianna Conner (a career-high 19 points, 5 3-pointers against A&T).
