Tough night at the Ted

Friday's result:

Florida 81, Old Dominion 67:
Pure and simple, the Lady Monarchs went down quietly against a very beatable Gator opponent. ODU missed 19 free throws and allowed Florida to convert six of its 13 long ball attempts in the second half. The Lady Monarchs rallied from 15 down to lead with 13:40 to play but had no answer for Steffi Sorensen (20 points, 6-of-8 from three) down the stretch. At 1-6, ODU has nine days to prepare for a Hampton team that nearly upset Temple, and a good place to start would be learning how to make a free throw and box out. As great as it was to see Jessica Canady return to action - the preseason CAA first-teamer saw her first action since the season opener - her movement remains limited due to offseason knee surgery. The highlight of the night: Tia Lewis. The sophomore looks better every time we see her. Lewis pulled down 16 points and 10 boards in a night when the Constant Center felt more like a church than a convocation center.
