Hampton stays perfect in the MEAC

Saturday's results:

Hampton 75, Norfolk State 54
Battle of the Bay always sounds pretty cool, doesn't it? Fact is, this game couldn't have been more routine for Hampton (11-5, 4-0 MEAC), which shook off the Spartans without a problem except for missing 14 free throws en route. Getting tired of the name Nicole Hamilton? HU opponents are. The Phoebus grad who is now an HU freshman led the way with 16 points, though Jericka Jenkins did her part with 11 points and 9 assists. Hampton held NSU (6-7, 0-4) scoreless for a seven-minute stretch in the first half. Only four assists for NSU, which also turned it over 20 times and missed on all three of its 3-point attempts.

Winthrop 65, Radford 55
The Highlanders (6-11, 3-1) perfect Big South record suffered its first blemish against a Lady Eagle team that won for the sixth time in seven games. Want a number that explains it? Winthrop (8-7, 2-1) shot 58 percent in the second half to Radford's 27 percent. Da'Naria Erwin-Spencer got hers with 24 points; the rest of the team was 8-of-43.
