Longwood looks to cool off Liberty

In Friday's lone game involving state teams:

Liberty (8-7) at Longwood (3-11), 7 p.m.
The Lancers have a 2-6 record since interim coach Bill Reinson took over on Dec. 6, a not-terribly surprising mark given that Reinson brought a new system (motion offense) for the players to learn with him. The Lancers appear to be catching on, though, as they won their last home game and battled to the end of a 3-point loss at Morehead State and a 4-point setback at Cornell. Longwood is also 2-1 at home under their new coach. Speaking of catching on, the Lady Flames appear to have found their dominant Big South form just in time as they'll bring a four-game winning streak - all away games - into the contest. Avery Warley is averaging 11.3 ppg and 11.8 rpg during the streak, and Liberty average rebounding margin has been plus-11 over the last four games. We think Longwood can keep this competitive, but it's tough to pick against the roll the Lady Flames are now on. Liberty 64, Longwood 54
