Though she says she's playing at just 60 percent, Ticha Penicheiro is making an immediate impact for Mcell-Alges. The former Old Dominion All-American signed a five-month contract with the Portuguese team that is vying to win Liga Feminina (Alges has a current 7-6 mark). Earlier this week, Penicheiro scored 17 in her second game for the team on 8-of-8 shooting, adding 13 rebounds and 3 assists. Alongside her is former Georgia center Angelica Robinson, averaging a league-best 22.3 ppg.
And while the 36-year-old is still playing dynamite basketball, one blogger suggests that this will be the final season in the WNBA for the L.A. Sparks point guard, now 36.
