ACC Tournament: Virginia's up next

In explaining the passion with which they played their final home game, Virginia's Paulisha Kellum said they felt as though they owed Monica Wright one. Which was nice. But guys, this is what she really wants.

ACC Tournament
Quarterfinals

#3 Virginia (21-8) vs. #6 N.C. State (17-12), 8 p.m.
The regular-season meeting between these two teams (a 73-60 UVa. victory) provided the blueprint for Cavaliers success in this tournament - tenacious defense (forced 24 turnovers), a strong game by Monica Wright (26 pts., 6 steals) and mulitple contributions from the supporting cast (three other players finished in double figures). That last part is especially important. Wright is certainly capable of carrying the Cavaliers to one victory. But if Virginia is to make a three-games-in-three-days run, she's going to need a lot of help.

Wright's career ACC Tournament averages (6 games)

Points: 19.0
Shooting percentage: 48.3 (43 of 89)
3-point percentage: 40.0 (8 of 20)
Rebounds: 4.8
Assists: 1.3
Turnovers: 5.3 (yikes!)
Steals: 2.0
Best game: 31 points (13 of 20 shooting) and 5 rebounds vs. North Carolina (2008)
Worst game: 13 points (4 of 15 shooting) and 9 turnovers vs. Duke (2009)
