Senior Chelsie Schweers has played her final game on the Christopher Newport campus.
The state's all-time leading scorer, any Division, will lead her Captains into the Sweet 16 at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., on Sunday (Annville is eight miles east of Hershey). CNU (27-3) will play Kean (24-4) -- the first time the teams have met since 1984-85. Game time will be announced later this week.
The Captains are making their second straight Sweet 16 appearance and third overall. The winner of that game will meet either Lebanon Valley (27-2) or William Paterson (26-3) in the Elite Eight.
Hickory High School (Chesapeake) graduate Schweers has scored 70 points in CNU's first two NCAA Tournament games.
