Five Virginia schools are part of the postseason WNIT, and the two with the most storied traditions could meet in the second round.
Old Dominion, which will host Loyola (Md), and Virginia, which starts out at home against Morgan State, will face each other if each can win its opener. Such a game would feature a final matchup between two of the game's most successful coaches, ODU's Wendy Larry and Virginia's Debbie Ryan. Ryan has announced she is retiring after this season.
No Virginia, CAA, ACC or Big South school is part of the Women's Basketball Invitational, a third postseason tournament.
